He received his Bachelor of Music from the University of Music Würzburg in 2015 (Prof. Christoph Bossert) and his Master of Arts at the University Conservatorio di Musica G. Frescobaldi in Ferrara in 2018. In 2015-2016 he served as assistant professor of harpsichord and clavichord at the Conservatorio di Musica G. B. Martini.

In 2017 he took part in the recording of the complete works of the composer Ippolito Ghezzi as basso continuo player (Dialoghi Sacri di Ippolito Ghezzi, 1608), released by Tactus. He also participated in the recording of Divi Augustini Musici, published by NovAntiqua, and in the recording of Habsburg Music for Two Trumpets with Jean-François Madeuf, Julian Zimmermann and The Rossetti Players.
Since September 2017 István Bátori has served as organist in the Chiesa della Trinità and the Basilica di Santo Stefano in Bologna.
With the support of the Hungarian Academy of Arts, he published a book in 2024 entitled Girolamo Diruta, Il Transilvano, Az Erdélyi with the publisher Kolozsvári Operabarátok Köre. The publication contains the full Hungarian translation of the two parts of Il Transilvano (1593, 1609), a Renaissance-era didactic treatise on the performance practice of Italian organ music. Complementing Bátori’s editorial work is a transcription of the musical content in modern notation and a recording of the pieces contained in this valuable work (toccatas, canzonas and ricercares), performed on the Renaissance organ by Graziadio Antegnati in the Palatine Basilica of Santa Barbara in Mantua.
